I have had right shoulder pain on and off for about 15 years. When it first started I was told it was due to compression in my cervical spine. In the last 3 months the pain in the right shoulder has gotten worse and has not eased up. The pain is radiating down my arm, my first and second fingers are numb at the tip and have been for 3 weeks. Pain started in left shoulder 2 months ago. Weakness in both arms. Now I have pain in my upper back/shoulder blade area.
I had an MRI done the results are as follows
C2-3 Unremarkable
C3-4 There is mild right foraminal narrowing, primarily from uncovertebral joint hypertrophy.
C4-5 Unremarkable
C5-6 Posterior disc osteophyte complex with mild central canal narrowing. There is moderate right-sided
stenosis from uncovertebral joint and facet hypertrophy.
C6-7 Posterior disc osteophyte complex and mild central canal narrowing. There is moderate foraminal
stenosis bilaterally, more so on the right side.
C7-T1 Unremarkable. No neurologic compression identified.
IMPRESSION: Degenerative changes at C5-6 and C6-7, as above, to include mild central canal narrowing and
moderate foraminal stenosis.
My appointment to review my MRI with the doctor isn't for 2 weeks, will surgery be the best option?
