concentration

I am 37 years old. I am experiencing lots of stress in my marriage about whether I should stay in a marriage or not due to mistrust, other than that I just graduated college and am about to start a new career but I am experiencing severe "forgetfulness or concentration problems."  I lost some critically important documents today, two of them, simply because I just did not pick them up and put them away after using them and I seem to be that way about everything I touch.  I walk in a room and instantly lose my keys and lost my cell phone twice in one month.  What in the world is wrong with me!  Is it simply stress, can anyone suggest where and what I can do to concentrate " a whole lot better?"

pls help, colguin

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.  I am happy to say that I've been proactive about my situation.  First of all, I made an appt with a neurologist simply to get checked out and make sure everything is ok.  I also read up on organization skills that must be learned to control the chaos that I feel I am experiencing.  I am happy to say that in just reading that information, I took care of about 5 things that were pending (things I was just procrastinating about) and I felt like I really made good use of my day.
I really appreciate the breathing exercise suggestions because I don't take the time to "just relax" sometimes, so I will be more conscious of my mental state and see how those exercises work out, I'm sure they will help.  I actually have always liked puzzles, but more of hte word search kind.  I will be switching to the "harder ones" so that I can use my memory skills. :)
Thanks again for the suggestions, I will keep you posted on how i'm doing. Thanks!

Hi,

How are you? I can understand what you are going through right now.

Your present circumstances may have a part to play in your current symptoms. Mental stress can cause forgetfulness.
I would advise you to please relax and do some breathing exercises every day.
The best way to improving memory is by learning a new skill or a language and doing some mental exercises like solving a puzzle.
Do let me know if you need more information. Keep us posted!
