craniotomy 12 years after fracture?

hi folks as the title suggests i suffered a depressed skull fracture 12 years ago at the age of 13. The injury occurred above my eye to the  right frontal bone . I was hospitalised for a few days and the surgeons mooted the idea of repair but they decided against it. I had some swelling around my right eye at the time but i had no complications and recovery went very well. I have no epilespy or any other medical problems.

The only thing was it left me with a 'dent' of sorts in my head. Some of it in front of my hairline. This now bothers me a lot despite the fact no one ever notices it. For whatever reason it has led to me having little confidence and depression. The onset of receding hair is making me worse,

i want to know what you think of the idea of having it repaired now? At the time the option was to cut me from ear to ear and fix it this way. Is this still the only way? i understand the bones will now have fused and repair will be more difficult/riskier.

All opinions welcome.

i wonder if there is a cosmetic way to reduce the appearance of the dent.

I agree surgery is drastic but i really feel this dent is keeping me back in life

Hi, its a old injury and presently you do not have any serious residues which is interfering in you daily activities of living. For receding hair line you can see a skin specialist. Since the dent is cosmetically not very obvious, you can for time being avoid surgery or can see the doctor for a second thought.
Take care, bye.
