I am sorry you lost your brother, that is an aggressive brain cancer that can take people quickly. My husband died of a brain tumor. The National Brain Tumor Foundation is a good source for the information you seek. I don't think there is a strong tendency to run in families. A cyst does not imply cancer, not the same thing at all, and the word parenchymal describes the location of the cyst I think, it means in the part of an organ concerned with it's function as opposed to it's framework.
Good luck to you.
My brother has passed away since my last comment, The tumor was too far advancsd plus he had bleeding and a blood clot. I am wondering if this type of tumor is hereditary? Any input will be helpful . Thanks Slydog
Thanks for your reply, My brother had surgery at Emory Univ. Hosp in Atlanta Sun Eve.The tumor had taken over his brain,Dr.' said he would only live probally 1 year at most. My husband was recently diagnosed with a parenchymal cyst in the brain and I am wondering if this cyst is related to the Gliobastoma.Does anyone know? Thanks ,Slydog
Glioblastoma multiforme is a "primary" brain tumor, i.e., it originates in the brain rather than migrating/spreading from a different part of the body. It tends to develop deep in white tissue and spread quite rapidly.
