has any one had the surgery for stapedial myoclonus

i'd like to know if anyone who has be dx with stapedial myoclonus has had the surgery and if indeed it does fix the problem.  thanks rose

thabk you for the info.  i have been suffering with this for 12+ yrs and at times it just drives me nuts!.  when it starts doing its thing it gives me a stress headache and oblivates my hearing in the left ear.  my right ear bothers me but not as much as the left.  i am planning on going to see a dr.  i hate taking meds but will stop caffeine if that causes the problem to be aggravated.  thanks for the advise!!

Hi!
Since stapedial myoclonus is the cause, cutting the muscle doe help reduce the symptoms. However, there may not be full remission of symptoms. Taking certain medications and avoiding caffeine and alcohol helps in reducing symptoms to some extent. Cognitive behavior therapy also helps you learn to ignore the symptoms. Take care!
