Hi,
Pituitary gland is an important endocrine gland which controls the functioning of numerous other endocrine glands like adrenals and thyroid by secreting releasing factors for these hormones.
These hormones are very important for normal functioning of our body and if there is a deficiency of these hormones it is important to take hormone replacement therapy to overcome this deficiency.
Please relax HRT will not damage your brain but is essential at the moment for you.
Thanks
I am 42 years old; I had a total hysterectomy when I was 34 years old. After my hysterectomy, the doctor started me on estrogen therapy, Premarin 0.9 daily. A few months ago, I recorded an episode of Oprah, the topic was HRT. After watching this episode, I promptly made an appointment with my family doctor to discuss other HRT options. I stopped taking my Premarin, and upon my request for a safer or natural hormone, she prescribed estradiol .05 once a week patch, just recently (last week) added Prometrium, 200 mg. daily. My health/sanity issues have not changed. I have anxiety, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, high cholesterol, insomnia, body aches, memory problems, difficulty concentrating and staying on tasks, no sex drive, the list goes on. My family doctor; does not seem to know what to do, so I am losing confidence in her. I remain confused about HRT, so I requested testing. My doctor says hormone testing is expensive and is not accurate; she refused to order the test. At this point I care about the expense! I am confused about hormone levels, which tests are needed and will the levels be accurate. My family doctor wants me to consider trying the Combipatch (a combination of estrdiol and norethindrone). Can anyone give me any input on that? Also, I do have family history of heart disease and cancer. The only thing I’m not cunfussed about is, I need relief, and the sooner, the better! It’s been 8 years since the hysterectomy; my family and I are all at the end of our ropes. Please help! Where do I go for testing? Should I go online or a compounding pharmacy? What kind of doctor specializes in HRT? I am losing faith in ever feeling “normal” again. I am a full time student and will begin a full time job by the end of May. I would like to be “straightening out” so that I can give 100% at my new job. I am so grateful to everyone for sharing their personal experiences.
Thanks, Linda
