idiopathic intracranial Hypertension

Pseudotumor cerebri...Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension...whatever. I prefer ptc.
Doctors believe I've had this since I was thirteen (now 23). I recently started getting worse and worse symptoms. "Migraines" no, it's my frigging brain swelling up inside of my skull against my sensitive eye balls thanks!
"Vomiting" I havent gone a full two weeks without vomiting since getting pregnant some time august 2012.
"Nausea" ^^^ ya think ?
But then I started seeing things before and during the times my brain hurt so bad I just laid in the dark.unmoving.
I heard whooshing every day at odd times for several seconds more than once.
For years I've heard music or always some familiar sound. Cooing of doves an old cowboy tune I cannot understand just hear the voice and melody a chainsaw.
I am becoming sensitive to sounds they trigger cringing feelings in the left side of my head or male my ears ring or jaw hurt.
Lights childrens cartoons and television make my eyes hurt and my head pain my eyes close.
My balance is off and sometimes my feet dont go where my brain thinks them to go. Same for my eyes I tried to make them follow the doctors finger but they didn't go far.
I'm exhausted all the time and my arms are uselss I can barely hold my 8m baby.
I feel like Im not myself I have no control over how the words come out of my mouth I cant make the sentences I need to have conversation without stalling. I'm embarrassed.
I had two spinal taps in 2 days. Day 1. 45ml out day 2. 14ml out
I go to a neurologist in two days to find out if im okay to have a vp shunt. Im scared.
I just don't know what to expect and it has been tricky finding info

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. If you are diagnosed with Pseudotumor cerebri and have raised intracranial hypertension then yes, a VP shunt will help maintain the pressure inside your skull and take care of the symptoms. Individuals on VP shunt lead a normal life. You may however have to avoid adventure sports or anything strenuous. The shunt can become blocked or infected. So, if the symptoms recur, you need to consult a doctor immediately.
Your symptoms can also be due to pinched nerves in the neck. This can be diagnosed by MRI, EMG/NCV studies.
The symptoms of headache, blurred and double vision, sensitivity to sounds and ringing in the ear can be due to temporal arteritis. The other possibility is brain injury due to the blow in this area. This is diagnosed by high ESR, high C-reactive protein, MRI and biopsy of the inflamed artery.
Please consult your doctor regarding these possibilities as well. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
