I had various facial tics as a child which (after years) eventually went away (eye tic, nose and mouth, etc.). Now as an adult (40 year old female) I think I again have a moter tic. The tic is somewhat like a cough which stems from my stomach. (My husband says that my body twitches when I do this.) I do it mostly at night when I am watching TV or reading or before I fall asleep at night. I will also do it during the day if I'm not busy. It is driving me crazy!!! I do not seem to have control over it. Is it possible to redevelop tics at an older age? I am on an ace inhibitor and a beta blocker for a heart condition. I was told that both medications can cause coughing. The doctor changed my ace inhibitor but it has not seemed to make a difference. When I go back to him, he will probably change the beta blocker to see if that is causing the problem. I'm wondering if the medication is not the problem. It feels more like an uncontrollable moter tic. Is this possible? What could I do to get rid of the tic (if that is what it is)?
Thank you!!!
