myelomalacia dx

In 1999, I was in an accident fx'ing C-5-C7. I had a spinal fusion and bone graft performed 1 month later. In the last 11 years, my only progression in symptoms has been increased numbness to my hands and in the last few weeks, pain to c-spine and across to both shoulder blades. I had an MRI last week that revealed myeomalacia. All of the information I have seen so far talks of a quick progression of this disease but mine seems to be slow. Does anyone know if this is normally a slow or fast progressive disease? Also, what signs and symptoms can I expect with this disease between C-5 and C-7?

I have been diagnosed with myelomalacia. Sad, but very few doctors will discuss it with you. I have shoulder, and arm pain. But worse is the burning pain in my first 1 and a half digits in both hands. I had a bone spur pressing into my spinal cord it is now 5.7  mm from C 4 to C 6 I am so tired of doctor visits and test.   I was diagnosed 3 years ago. After 2 surgeries the burning pain has returned with a vengeance. Do not know what to other than I am sorry you are going through this. Do you have the burning in your hands? Please let me know how things are progressing with you. I am 65 so it may be regressing faster with me. They said I had an injury to the spinal cord. I have no idea when that happened. How about you? Did they say you had been injured at some time? Please let me hear from you. Maybe together we can find some answers.... Be blessed...
