I can believe it is from the neck, in the area you describe.  I lay on the couch and read, my neck is stiff and my upper back/lower neck aches.  Ever since the getting this pain, for about a month now, I have had an intermittent twitch in my right pinky.

I have sudden right hand pinky twitching and honestly, I KNOW that it is related to neck problems. I had three level cervical fusion, but the real problem was the disc between C7 and T1, and the surgery was done above that level. This level still moves around, and causes many different problems and symptoms. This morning I pulled hard on a handle that didn't budge, and that put my neck "out" again in a different position. Then the pinky twtching began. I have never had that symptom before, but know that it is neck related. Please for your future, certainly see a neurosurgeon, BUT if you strengthen your neck by doing slow exercises of stretching and strengthening it could save your quality of life ENORMOUSLY! Please!! I'm not kidding.
