Thanks for the reply,
Of course like many I do not have insurance, so can't afford any medical exams or treatments, but can you tell me where to find the types of exersises to do for the strained piriformis muscle.
Thanks again
Well..you have sciatica, which you probably figured out. You need an MRI of the lumbar area L1-L-5. An x-ray is pointless. Now to figure out the etiology. Generally there are two areas where the sciatic nerve can be compressed. Either by disc deterioration in the lumbar area or by compression from damage to the piriformis muscle (by straining) one of the six muscles in the lateral rotator group, which extends through the greater sciatric foraman. The episodes are painful, but usually self-limiting. Piriformis damage is more amenable to rehabilitation through exercise, although sciatic nerve compression from disc damage may also respond. You need an evaluation and an appointment with the physical rehab specialist who will prescribe exercises.. Your chiropractor is wrong. You have textbook symptoms of sciatic nerve impingement. The left buttock pain is definitive.
