sydenham's chorea in middle age?

I've just returned from seeing a specialist because of worsening movements (chorea) and leg burning/tingling and fatigue.  I can't have an MRI due to pacemaker.  Doctor thinks I might have Sydenham's Chorea, although no history of strep throat incidents.  What do you think?  He's ordered additional blood tests; says no to MS or Parkinson's even though I have close relatives with both.  Thank you for advice.  I thought this is mainly a childhood disease?

I also am suffering with adult onset chorea. I am a 40 yr old male and my movement disorder specialist had me genetically tested for Huntington's and DRLPA..both of which came back fine. I am now headed to the Mayo Clinic because my local doctors do not know what is wrong.

Hi -- I just saw your post and was surprised. I haven't run across anyone else with adult onset sporadic chorea. I am a 45 year old female with adult onset chorea. My movement disorder specialist has not said definitively why he thinks I have this, but at my last appt. in December he discussed sydenham's as a possibility. It's been tough to get much info on this in adults. I'd be curious to hear more of your story.

best regards -- get in touch with me if you are back on the forum,
thanks!
