Hi, Thank you for your question. I think your symptoms may be due to nerve irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because of cervical disc bulge. This pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head & shoulders (as electric sensation or blade)- LHERMITTES SIGN, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) and stiffness. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants. Other treatments could be cervical orthosis such as a soft cervical collar or stiffer neck brace to restrict neck movement till you get complete recovery. In addition, cervical traction may also be suggested by the doctor, if condition is severe. Hope this helps.
for 3 months i had this piercing pain in my lower right shoulder blade on my back. i honestly thought i had pleuresy, because i had been diagnosed with it several years prior (and that is a pain you don't forget). i took 3 regimen's of antibiotics because i also was suffering from a cough that increased the pain threshold. i woke one morning and had no feeling when using the bathroom, a slight tingling in my lower right leg, and some sort of spasming going on in my left leg. i thought nothing of it because all of the symptoms basically went away. around 2 hours later my right leg went numb. i went to the emergency room. i was diagnosed with a "bone spur" on c5/c6 and sent home w/ meds. by 2:30 that afternoon i was a complete parapalegic and emergently transported to a hospital to undergo a 13 hour discectomy/fusion on c7/t1. 18 months later i am now diagnosed with a buldging disc at c5/c6. surgery is inevitable due to the entire right side of my body still numb! i spend 11 days completely paralyzed from my chest down. call your dr or go to the emergency room...make sure you get an MRI as soon as possible. tingling and pinching pains are not normal and something major may be going on. i had no notice and no previous back problems, nor family history of debilitating diseases such as MS or Gillan Barre disease.
