pesticides and farming pistachios

i wanted to buy a big bag of pistachios (with shelled removed) - but wonder if there are additives or pesticides or chemical nasties used in farming and processing and storing this food? the label said from usa.
(what about almonds? cashews? macadamias? red rice from thailand? broadbeans? anything else you think of)
thanks...

Only food labeled organically grown is free of pesticides.  Even then, certain low toxicity pesticides have been allowed since the federal gov't instituted national labeling rules.  I only buy organically grown food to eat at home, though I'm not so rigid as to skip eating at restaurants.  All non-organic farming is loaded with nasties, from the seed on down.  The best you can do is buy direct from a farm you know and trust to be organic; the second best is to shop only where organic food is sold.
