Could this be OCD?

For about a year I have been very obsessive with my garage door being closed, appliances being unplugged, doors being locked, etc. For example, I have a heated blanket in my room. Instead of just flipping a switch to turn it off, I must unplug it. Then after unplugging it, I check it again maybe 2 times and say to myself "off" as I check other appliances. This has become a frustration in my daily routine, and it has caused me to be late to many appointments and classes. Could this be just from anxiety or depression that I have, or is this OCD?

Then it certainly sounds like OCD to me. I'd seek out a Psychiatrist if I were you and discuss ways of trying to get a handle on this. There are medications and therapy techniques that do help.

Well I have had depression for years, but since this has only been noticable to me for the past year, I cannot discover why I am doing this day by day now. And yes, if I were to ignore unplugging the appliances it would be frustrating for me and my mind would not feel at ease. Maybe awhile after leaving the house I would forget about it, but as I am leaving my house I feel a great deal of stress.

Yes, could very well have OCD. Do you feel a lot of anxiety associated with this? Like if you were to ignore unplugging these appliances, would it make you feel very anxious and agitated?
