Yes you're right. Only the person in the respective situation knows how exhausting is that ilness.
But i don't know pray to god then. Have nothing to lose.
Morandy...I know you mean well, but you should not be giving advice about OCD. Telling someone who has OCD to NOT do what they are compelled to do, is like telling someone not to breath. OCD is a very serious mental disorder. There is NO cure.
However, with the right therapist who knows what they are doing, an OCD patient can get to a point where they can manage the OCD. It is alot of hard hard work.
No one gets 'over it' as you suggested to Tanya.
Also, substance abuse is a piece of cake to treat, compared to OCD. I know, I have a daughter that lives with it every day. If it was possible for her to just "not do it" she would have done that years ago.
Like I said, you meant well with your advice. You just don't realize how serious and powerful this disorder is.
God Bless
There are worse problems than yours, believe me.
I am in the respective situation.
Your problem is not from a substance abuse like alchohol or drugs..etc.
It looks more like daily bad habit.Have faith, you will get over this.
First, I think you find out why you got this compulsive need for cleaning.
Doctor maybe will help a little to understand your problem, but only you can get rid of it.
I think the best way to get over this is to take it as a challenge. You have to find a way to resolve your problem.
If i were you i wold develop another habit (a good one) to focus all the time on.
In your spare time get with your kids outside. I don't know. When i was a kis I used to go with my brother and friend swimming at the river and beating each other with mud. :) .Dirt is GOOD !
God gives us all a challenge in life. That is yours.
Bye bye
Oh sweetie....my heart goes out to you. Based on what you wrote, you do, indeed, have OCD. I'm sure by now you have googled OCD and done some research, but in case you have not done that, I suggest you do. There is a web site just for this disorder. It is called The International OCD Foundation and the address is ocfoundation.org
My daughter has OCD. She is now 18. I have learned far more about OCD than I had ever wanted to. The good thing is that it is very treatable in that you can get to a place in your life where you can manage it. The important thing is finding someone who really, truly, treats OCD the way it needs to be treated. There are many Dr and therapists out there that will tell you they treat it, but if they don't do cognitive behavior therapy with exposure and ritual prevention...also known as CBT with ERP, then you need to turn around and walk away. Anything else will be a waste of time and money.
You will learn all this as you do more research. If it makes you feel any better at all, even though your situation is pretty bad, there are people far worse off than you. Joining a support group, if there is one in your area, will also help immensely, just knowing you are not alone.
There are also drugs you can take that will help Many people will take drugs and do the behavior therapy
I really hope you have a qualified therapist in your area. You can see if there are any from the website I mentioned. Good Luck!
I have a question for you.....how long has this been going on in your life?
Hugs,
Debbie
