Anyone ever been obsessed with why we exist? I can't stop. I have been a Christian all my life but my thoughts always say what if. It really bothers me. Help
Part of cognitive behavioral therapy is replacing the negative thoughts with positive ones. Also, it is practice to let things go.

This type of what if thinking is about control. We want to prove or disprove what we think and in this case you can't do that. So in order to get past this you have to learn to not care using self-coaching statements.
Does it really matter why we exist? We are here and there is nothing we can do about it. Nothing you can say or think that will change the fact that we are simply here. And we will not know why or by whom until we die. So you need to get to a point where you say "Whatever" because you can't do anything to change what brought us here or where we go after, if we even go anywhere. We simply don't know. So come up with a saying that you can say when you think this thought..."Whatever, I have no control over this and so I'm not wasting anymore of my time on it." And then busy yourself with something else.
I once thought that maybe this was purgatory and what we did in the here and now decided whether we got into heaven or not. Well I got over that because it doesn't matter whether this is purgatory or not. All I can do is be the best person I can be and live in the here and now.

I have a psychiatrist only. He told me about cognitive therapy but it would not be useful in this case.
Hi there...sorry for the delay. I have never taken Luvox. How long have you been on it and what dosage are you on? Did you ever see a psychologist to learn cognitive behavioral therapy?
Yes. I have had this disorder all of my life. I am currently taking luvox, which isn't very helpful. I'm not sure if it is making it worse.
