I was diagnosed with Labral tears in Jan. 2011 & was planning surgery, but when I went back for a follow up my pain was only a 3-4. The previous/ first visit it was a 9. My pain fluctuates greatly form a 3-10 in a matter of days or even hours. My right hip was injected, May 2010. with depo medrol & lidocaine. My surgeon hoped it would reduce pain & be used as a diagnostic tool. He told me 90% of patients that get positive results & reduced pain from the injections do well after the surgery. The injection provided zero improvement. He pretty much told be based on the fact hat the injections did not help at all, he has no idea if surgery will work. November 2010 I started seeing a chiropractor. She restricted all exorcise until I was somewhat stable. Not doing anything sort of helped, but I continued to have nerve pain on the side of my legs and a burning pain in my right & left groin. She put me a on a physical therapy schedule to build strength in my hips, glutes and pelvis area. I stopped seeing her about 1 month ago because my insurance doesn't cover her facility anymore and its $65 a visit. The exercise routine helps, but I still can’t run , do lunges, sit or stand for any period of time. Sex also aggravates the groin area. Since I have stopped seeing the chiropractor I continued doing the exorcise routine. I am going to add back in yoga & speed walking. She told me not too, but those activities only mildly bothered me. I am going to see my surgeon in another few weeks to report. Maybe I will try phototherapy. If that does not work I would like the surgery. I want to try all non-surgical options first. I am so afraid I will have surgery & the pain will be worse or I will have no improvement. Please let me know you opinion. Lastly, I had a lower back MRI and injection I that area to rule out transferred back pain. I have also had a nerve conduction study and it was normal.
