is this serious

Hi

I had a trauma due to twisting in the knee which hurt then so much that i walk with great difficulty. The orthopedist put all my leg into a kind of fiberglass for 2 months. i did an MRI after 12 days which came as follows:

- A large incomplete non-displaced avulsion fracture of the middle and posterior parts of the upper tibial epiphysis (including the tibial attachment of both P.c.L and A.C.L

- The A.C.L shows diffuse intra-substance signal alteration, with fuzzy outline, splitted and partially interrupted fibers i.e. denoting ligamentous sprain and partial thickness injury.

- sprain of the M.C.L is also noted, being engulfed by a zone of bright STIR signal

- No M.R.I abnormalities related to the medial or lateral menisci

- Intact P.C.L lateral collateral ligament, quadriceps and patellar tendons

- Mild intra-articular synovial effusion

is the fracture severe I asked the orthopedist whether an operation is needed he said no it will heal automatically. why it didn't say crack instead of fracture. fracture in engineering means they separate.

is my case severe or as he said it will only need after 2 months physical therapy. will i develop osteo-arthritis

many thanks

Based on your MRI report alone, it seems that this will heal without surgical intervention. I would probably add a brace to protect the injury while it is healing and to prevent further displacement. Fracture and crack are almost synonyms, fracture is the technical term and covers a broader range than simply crack. I might also add protected weight bearing with crutches for several weeks to aloow for healing before staring PT. Another consideration might be a Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) machine.

Dear Dr
I am having Disc Prolapse in neck since last 3 yrs.As a result my shoulders have become really hard.I tried every best treatment ranging from visiting various Orthos and Physiotherapist available but with no improvement.
My MRI reports are-1)Loss of Cervical Lordosis
2)Posterior bulge of C4-C5 disc on left side compressing theca and left exiting nerve.
3)Posterior diffuse bulge of of C3-C4 and C5-C6 indenting theca and both existing nerve.
.
Even I underwent Electromyogram (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies which shows everything normal.

Recently I heard about Ozone Therapy.I read that in this therapy they will inject Ozone in the disc as a result the jelly like substance will be punctured and the pressure on nerve will be released. Is this therapy really good and can it be helpful in my case?

Regards
Pankajj
