Manipulation of knee with blood clot in calf

Is there precedence of having the manipulation of knee while having an active blood clot in the calf?  I've got three doctors working with me - orthopedic doctor wants to get the manipulation done; however the hemotologist and vascular doctor say Not yet.  I'll be 3mths post op (patella reallignment) before they re-evaluate again and IF they permit it they want to do a filter which they indicate could pose more risk.  I've had only 2 weeks of PT earlier on and none since.  I can't find any record of this manipulation being done with an active blood clot - the hemotologist and vascular doctor (both renowned in my area) didn't even know what it was.  ???

I'm not sure why the delay is necessary if you are going to have a filter placed. Why not have filter put in and have the manipulation done immediately? Three months from now, the adhesions will have matured and a manipulation may not be effective.

One other question -
Is it possible to do something to dissolve this clot in the calf instead other than time and coumadin- that seems it would take care of alot of concern.

Dr. Gross, Thank you for your reply.  Is it possible for PT to even work this long after?

The idea of the filter was just thrown out as a possibility that they will consider in a few weeks and I only know this because of the doctor notes that were sent to me (for my disability) from the vascular doctor.  Otherwise they will allow me to start PT back again.  They really don't want me to have the manipulation procedure done until the blood clot is gone but threw in the thought of the filter IF the hematologist agreed.  I'm having alot of swelling in the leg and have been instructed to keep my leg elevated over my heart the majority of the day for a month (I have 2 weeks left).  I try my hardest to 'relax' into a bending position and am unable to do but about 20 degrees - not because of pain but just because it won't bend.   I just saw the hematologist yesterday and mentioned what the vascular specialist had in the notes about the filter and he said he's not sure its a good idea since he might have to leave it in and that would cause more problems.  My ortho doctor doesn't agree that this clot will do anything fatal to me.  Its very confusing since none of the doctors seem to agree on anything.
