My mid-back pain comes from standing but not from running.

I have pain right in the middle of my back, i.e. above the spine and about halfway between my neck and the bottom of my ribcage.  I am an 80 year old endurance runner, but the pain doesn't occur when I am running or walking briskly.  It comes when I'm standing or moving around the house:  doing housework (my wife thinks this is a joke) or any activity where I'm stooping slightly forward or sitting upright in a chair.
