I am 52 and have mild pain in one big toe when walking with shoes on, although I try to make sure they fit. No fracture or arthritis was found on xray and, judging by family history, I have the beginning of a bunion. Making the toe crack intentionally, which I do by writing in the air with bare feet whilst watching television, relieves the pain and also seems to be realigning the toe to some extent. This works as well, or better for me personally, than wearing a toe splint at night. Hope someone finds this helpful.
hi i have the same problem and i am 13 now and have had it for 2 years and counting i no what you mean by how annoying it is and how you dont understand when the doctors say it is normal as they all said it to me before i had an x ray and they said there was nothing wrong with the bone but it may be that the tendon down the center of you big toe could have moved over slightly when i got told this i realized it is true and you may have to same problem
if you lift your toes up you should be able to see a tendon lift by the top of your toe where it joins to your foot and it should be in the centre of the toe if it isnt then you will possibly have the same problem as i.
Hello.
I think the clicking may be normal if it is cracking of the knuckles. Since other toes are not as accessible and mobile as the great toe, you may not have noticed.
More importantly, do you have any discomfort from it? Do they click when you don't want them to?
Cracking the knuckles is quite a normal activity. The sound comes from the fluid in the joint space (synovial fluid).
