Burning tearing pain in Shins when I kneel

I have what I think is the strangest thing going on.  I am 55, diabetic with heart disease, weight 173, height 5'2"

Recently (within last month or so) when I kneel down on the floor, sofa or anything else, I get a sharp tearing, burning pain in my shins - just to the outside of the middle of the shin.  It feels like some sort of muscle is tearing apart, and continues to tingle for about an hour after this happen and I stand up.  I do not have any pain in my shins from walking, running or anything else, just kneeling.  In fact, I was so bad the other day that my husband had to help me off the floor when I knelt down to get something out of the cupboard.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

I realize this is an old thread, but has anyone gotten a definitive answer on this issue yet? I'm experiencing the exact same thing. I've worked out that it might be a periosteum injury or really bad shin splint - might be the same thing, I'm not an osteopath - but I'd love to hear what others have found.

I have the same pain.  Did ANYONE get an answer as to what this might be.  I started several months ago and also seems to be getting worse.

Did anyone get any answers on this?  I am suffering with the same thing.  Right knee only.  Any pressure on it (ie, kneeling) sends a pain that feels like a plaster being ripped off my skin on the right side of my leg - I feel like if I pull up my trouser leg, one of my veins will have exploded but there is nothing there.  It has been going on for about 3 weeks with no noticeable trigger.  I suffer with water retention and swollen ankles in the heat but can't think what it could be.

Did you find out what caused this?  And what cured this?  It sounds alot like something that is happening to me that started with a fall on my knee.

I have this same pain, and it initially happened because I knelt on the floor and twisted the wrong way.  It was an instant tearing stinking burning shocking pain!

It's been bothering me for three months now and it's slowly getting worse!  It also NEVER goes away!  I feel it when I sit on it wrong, sit near it wrong, if I rock my ankle getting into the car, if I flex my ankle backwards or up .... it shoots down though the outer middle of the calf/shin area into the top of my foot to my little toes!

If I rub the leg, or press on it ... sometime I feel swelling and it sends these light shock waves/tingles from the spot and down ...

I'm 42, I'm not diabetic.
What is it? ... is it fractured?
Maybe a compressed nerve or compartment?
HELP IT'S MAKING ME NUTS!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

You should get your fasting blood sugar test done and adjust your dosage of medications properly.

You should also go for some scans such as X-rays of your legs to make sure you do not have any fractures, if pain continues follow up with an orthopedician.

Consider regular cardio and maintain a BMI of 25.

Take care!
