Doctor unable to repair my torn labrum in hips

Six months ago I was diagnosed with labral tears in both of my hips. Four weeks ago I had an arthroscopy on the left hip and the labrum ended up being so shredded that it was unable to be repaired using anchors. The only thing my surgeon was able to do was to do a debridement of the labrum and correct the FAI by trimming the rim of the acetabulum. Today I had my second surgery on the right hip, and again the labrum was unable to be repaired. My doctor insists that I will make a full recovery, and that the only complication is the possibility of arthritis down the road. I can't help but wonder if I went with the wrong doctor, since I am reading about new techniques to reconstruct the labrum using grafts. Has anyone been in this same situation? What were your experiences with your recovery, range of motion, and ability to exercise post-op?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Well, the usual surgeries involved in labrum tears are sewing up the torn pieces together or debridement of the torn labrum. The latter was done for you since the labrum tears were beyond repair. Using grafts to repair the tears is a relatively new technique and may not be available at all hospitals. Also, it is mostly being done  at research centers. You could ask your surgeon about these techniques and whether they will be helpful in your case. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.

Hi:
Does anyone know where I can have my labral tear repaired?  I live in Chicago I am willing to travel.  Anybody know Dr. Thomas Byrd in Nashville? What about Dr. Benjamin Domb in Illinois (Hinsdale)  Thank you for your time.
