Thank you for the reply the DR told me to put 25 % of body weight on it for a week then 50 % this week tell I go see him tomorrow. Like I said i cheated and walked on it a little bit but not much. He also said from when I went 3 weeks ago that I had such great movement from him moving it with some very harsh pain but he said I will not need physical therapy. I hope that stays the same I will find out tomorrow what he has to say at 10 am when I go. Thank you for you're reply though
Hi, its normal to experience some pain and discomfort when trying to walk after a period of immobilization. As there is no movement, there is inadequate circulation and there is stasis leading to edema. As you start walking, the circulation will improve and the sensation will diminish. According to studies done, the decrease in muscle performance, functional ability, and fatigue resistance induced by 8 weeks of cast immobilization can be reversed with 10 weeks of supervised physical therapy. So, follow the instructions given by your doctor and get well soon. Regards.
