How likely is a re-torn rotator cuff, 6wks post-op, after falling?

I am 6 weeks post-op after rotator cuff arthroscopy and was cleared to remove my sling two days ago. Today, my dog got underfoot and I fell. Unfortunately, I reflexively stuck out that same arm to catch myself. I know that this soon after surgery, re-tear rates are much higher. I did call for an appointment and am waiting to hear back. Until then, I’m trying gauge what the likely outcome might be, in your experience, knowing that you cannot say for certain without assessment.

Sad truth:  surgery is pretty much a toss-up when it comes to such things.  Knees, hips, backs, etc.  So it's possible it just got hurt in a minor way that caused pain because you're so close to having the trauma of surgery and injury there, or it could be reinjured because it didn't heal fully, or your surgeon didn't actually fix it, or so many things that any attempt to figure it out before getting it looked at will just drive you nuts.  You're just going to have to have patience and optimism, as the alternative is a dark road.
