I can't raise my feet properly

Big thanks in advance for anybody who has any advice, honestly this problem has me very scared.

Last week I sat with my legs and feet tucked under me for a few hours (long story, very dumb mistake), and when I went to get up, I found that I couldn't stand properly and had lost feeling in my feet. Eventually I was able to stand up, but found that when I lifted my legs, my feet drooped downward and I wasn't able to arch them upward at all. This made walking very difficult, since it was impossible to go heel-toe, and my foot would just sort of slam down when I lowered my leg.

It's been just over a week since then, and things have definitely gotten better. I've regained the feeling in my feet, and I'm able to arch my feet a bit more each day, improving my gait and making moving around much easier. But it's still far from perfect - I'm only able to pull up my feet about half as much as I think I should be able to. Walking has gotten a little more natural, but still not normal. On top of this, one foot seems to be healing a bit more quickly than the other (on one of them I can raise it higher and have more control of my big toe than I do on the other). That said, without a doubt, both feet are much better than they were right after the injury happened, and I'm healing more and more every day.

I live abroad in an area where it's very difficult to find an orthopedic doctor. I don't want to fly back home if this is a problem that will fix itself in time, and I don't mind waiting it out, but I'm getting worried by how long it's taking to heal. I don't want to risk permanent damage, and will buy a ticket home to see an orthopedic doctor if it's absolutely necessary. Can anybody give me and advice or thoughts on this?

Thank you very much in advance!
