Would love your advice!  I fell down stairs and broke left thumb middle knuckle and dx with "gamers thumb". Cast for 6wks. After removal noticed pain in my wrist, from thumb to about 2in past wrist. Dr thought might be caused by cast. Hand therapy and another 4wks of immobilizing splint . still had pain,  now 3wks with no splint.  Whole hand still swells almost as bad as when injured initially, cortisone shot didn't help,  therapy no help.  Saw Dr today. Discussed going ahead with surgery to release the sheath. Sending me to another Dr in his office to get second opinion.  What are your thoughts? What can I expect if I have surgery and recovery? Another cast? Pain? Thank you so much for your time!

I would like to say "Hello" to everyone. I will attempt to give my two cents worth (sometimes it maybe only worth one cent) whenever I think it will help someone! Feel free to post any Orthopedic question you might have, (as we've all heard) the only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked! Thank you!
