Is it possible to fix a crookedly heeled knuckle?

An old basketball injury to left hand's ring finger (around age 15, I'm now 42) which most probably dislocated or fractured finger around middle knuckle. Appears to have healed incorrectly, with knuckle bulging towards little finger, and the top of ring finger leaning towards middle finger somewhat. Finger works well enough though weaker/clumsier than normal it seems. Main motivation to fix is to make it easier for typing, and playing musical instruments (piano/guitar/violin) where I find it hampers progress in terms of agility/precision (I'm right handed, so use left hand for frets).

Wondered if anyone could recommend a good way of going about this in the UK (whether NHS or private, where and how) and how long to expect heeling period to be. Would it be likely for the fixed finger to become just as dexterous as the others once heeled, or am I being too hopeful?

I'd appreciate any advise, thanks!
