Knee extention not possible 5 months post ACL reconstruction?

Hi,

So long story short, I tore my ACL, MCL and cartilage in May, I had a reconstruction in July and unfortunately 3 weeks ago I tore my ACL again by just turning around a bit too fast.

Now since the initial injury in May I have never been able to fully extend my knee. I do loads of physio daily and I am in the gym at least 3 times a week to work on it but it just won’t budge.

I understand that it might never be exactly the same again and I’m not expecting it to hyper extend like my other knee does. However, it won’t even “lock in” when I’m walking or standing on it. My quads can’t activate properly and it has left my bad leg looking like a twig no matter what I try in the gym. I also have a visible limp when I walk.

I’ve had my MRI for this recent ACL and awaiting surgery now.

Please has anyone else had the same thing, and could you eventually fully extend it again? I just want to go back to my normal life.
