Numbness on injury site

So 6 days ago I rolled my ankle on a trampoline and I had shoes on as well.  I felt a gnarly pop and severe pain...ok so I went to the hospital and the gave me a splint said it was a 3 rd degree sprain....now I am all bruised up around the left side of my left ankle..now the actual site is numb...I can almost walk on it painfree but it feels more unstable than painful....it this dangerous should I stay in my splint...any info would be great?!?!?

Hi, I know how you feel, im also without insurance, and cant for the life of me get assitance..Free clinics,  ive tried, but if you have minor children living with you, they say you must apply for medicade..At least in my state, MI..ive no choice but to just bite the bullet and swallow the debt, You should also, Im a mom, and have to be able to take care of my family..The doctors ive seen, and the hoptials, are allowing me to make payements..Hope you get on the mend soon.. Best of luck,

Hi,
It does not matter you have yourself treated at a free clinic or a paid private clinic as long as the treating physician is an expert.
You can use splinting of your  ankle and observe for few days.
Kindly do have consultation even at free clinics

well they told me it was  a 3rd degree sprain..which usually involves some sort of ligament tear and/or fractures to the metatarsels i think the instep bones...anyway I am poor but reasonably educated.....I have had frequent injuries to both ankles but this is by far the worst it has been...I found a place that said the numbness was do to severed nerve endings.  but as of this morning the pain has increased drastically...in and out of the splint.....My point is I am poor and have no insurance...is the old R.I.C.E. anagram the only viable option at this point....what is your opinion of free clinics??? thanks for the help anymore would be most appreciated

Hi,
Went though all the posts.
You had rolled on your ankle and later developed a sharp shooting pain. It could be due to sprained muscle or an ruptured ligament. To be sure of a diagnosis a clinical examination is must.
With respect to splinting, splinting if has decreased pain then muscle pain could be thought of but unstable walk is in favor of ligament injury.
Orthopaedic opinion would be the need of  the hour.

Hi, it seems to be there is pressure effect may be on nerve or blood vessel could be due to splint itself so don't waste your time much go to your orthopedician treating you for review so he can examine and take care of you better.
