Pain in Foot?

My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week.  She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain.  The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on.

Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.  How long can she expect this pain to stay?

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply.  No, my mother isn't diabetic or have varicose veins.  She's not scheduled to see her ortho. surgeon for a couple of weeks but if she's still in severe pain, I will ask to move up her appt.

Hello Dear,
Is your mother diabetic?Pain in the foot may be due to diabetes, nerve root compression, varicose veins etc.You should seek an expert opinion to find out the cause.Unless a physical examination is done it is difficult to comment upon.
