Painful bunion on big toe

Hi I have quite a large lump or bump on my big toe joint. I’m not sure if it is a bunion or what not?
It’s quite hard and doesn’t feel squishy. It rubs on my shoes and can get quite painful sometimes.
I also have a bunion on my other foot too, it’s not too big but it does look out of place and it throbs.
Will it involve surgery to get rid of them both, and what happens?
Thankyou
