Possibly Wrist Tendonitis?

I started having (left) wrist pain about 3 weeks ago. By the end of the first week, I was hurting enough to pay attention to it. I iced, heated, rested (as much as possible), and wrapped it at night, as well as taking NSAIDS. The pain kept getting worse all week despite my efforts. It was mainly at the base of my thumb, but would shoot up my arm towards my elbow. That would simply leave me in tears. I couldn't twist or grab anything. Pinching or making a fist was really painful and difficult to do. Near the end it started popping. During that second week sometime I started noticing pain in the same place on my other wrist, but it never got very bad. Monday morning (start of week 3) I woke up and my left wrist cracked. It was very painful, but later that day my pain was gone. Mid-morning on Thursday, I felt a slight pain in my left wrist again. Later that day my brother punched me in the forearm where the shooting pains had been before (we do karate so it wasn't like he was trying to hurt me). Pain shot from my wrist/thumb to my elbow again. I went right back to treating it, but it's not seeming to help. My wrist and thumb are popping more and hurting when they do. Does this sound like tendonitis? Will it go away if I keep after it or should I go to the doctor?

Look into de quervain's tendinosis.  I have it from time to time... they can inject a certain spot with a steroid to lesson the inflammation around the sheath.  I have not done that... yet...
good luck!
