Post Fusion Surgery

Hello everyone, my name is Grant.I had total wrist fusion 5 weeks ago in Philadelphia. I am still in a cast which itches like crazy. I have progressed well so far but still have a dull ache in my hand/wrist and sometimes feel a clicking in the ulna area. Can anyone add some color to my comments and progression so far? I go back to the doctor on Monday for the post surgery X-ray and evaluation.

Hey Grant!

It is common to have slight pain/ discomfort post a fusion surgery. This occur due to inflammation and is expected to get better in a few days/ weeks and should not be anything to worry about. While the precise prognosis would depend on the primary condition and the type of fusion, it would be best to discuss the situation and the progress made so far in detail with your treating orthopedician at the review appointment.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
