Stretching Dupuytren's?

I have early Dupuytren's contracture that started in about Feb or March ('09).  Since I was diagnosed, I've been stretching the fingers back every day, hoping that this will keep the fascia from tightening up.  At this point I can bend my fingers back 45 degrees.  I'd like some doctors' opinions on whether this can keep the contracture from becoming a problem.  Thank you.

When you can't uncurl your little finger and your ring and middle finger are partially curled, you essentially don't have that hand any more.  In certain situations, this could be dangerous.

BTW, it's "orthopedist".

Dupuytren's contracture is not a dangerous condition, and often no treatment is necessary. Even when treatment is used, there is no permanent way to stop or cure the affliction.

So demonstrate the procedure near any experienced Orthopaedician just to see that you do not harm yourself.

Surgery is the last option.

Take care!
