Sudden pain in my sternum/ back in parallel spots???

I woke up yesterday morning with a sudden pain in my chest bone/sternum and the same pain on my back in the same spot across from my chest, next to my spine.  I'm guessing its a dislocated rib or something of the sort because it hurts when I breathe deep or bend down too far and feels better with advil and slight stretches?
Any opinions or advice on how to fix this would be amazing, thank you!

Hello!

I would first suggest you to rest and not to exert because it is a suspect rib fracture.

Get a chest X-ray done for properly diagnosing any bone damage.

The best treatment for rib fractures is rest and restricting your breathing movements by keeping yourself calm and not hyperventilating.

Follow up with an orthopedician. Take intermittent pain killers and apply ice packs.

Take care!

Thank you so much Dr. Vinod, it's feeling a little better each passing day and I've been just taking it easy. Unfortunately I am a drummer in music school and have finals in two weeks so I'm hoping it gets better before then.

Thanks again!
