What is causing my 2nd toe to curl at the joint and cause me pain when I walk?

For the last 10 years, I've been having a problem with my 2nd toe on my right foot that makes it impossible to walk almost. The toe curls at the middle joint downward and causes pain at that joint. What could this be? If it'll help, my feet are flat and I overpronaye on that foot.

Hi and welcome. So, this happens when ligaments and tendons have become tight.  It pulls up on toe and causes the curl.  They call it a 'claw toe'.  A muscle imbalance is usually associated. Get new shoes that accommodate the toe so it can heal.  A podiatrist will be able to help you and they may use hammer toe splints or these things called toe crests that help relax and push the toe back to position.  They WiLL do surgery if those things don't work.  Let me know what you think and how you are doing!
