Who's had a knee replacement surgery?

Hi there.  It's been a long while since I visited this community.  Life has been pretty good, despite several issues I deal with .  I've been totally in love with Zumba, and am in pretty darn good shape from it.

Unfortunately, my left knee has given up on me.  Both knees are in bad shape; I've had 5 surgeries, 3 of them ACL reconstructions.  I tore the lateral meniscus in my left knee in September.  Despite physical therapy & a good knee brace, the pain finally drove me to visit an orthopedic surgeon.  X-rays alone were enough to make it clear that it was time for a new knee.  Bone on bone, bone spurs galore, and exam shows ACL is about totally gone again (third time in this knee) I'm 51 years old.

So, any words of wisdom?  Advice or helpful hints for an easy & successful rehab from this trip to the hospital?

Thank you

After an injury in 11/1990, three arthroscopies over the years, last one 07/10/2006, I had (R) knee joint replacement surgery, on 08/05/2013, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis, IN, by Dr. J. Andrew Parr & team. Was given a spinal & put under. Had xrays 3 months out of surgery & got images on disc.

I'm curious about your recovery; did you do well with pain, did you recover your range of motion quickly, how long did you use a walker, how long before you were able to drive?

Obviously I have had a lot of time to think about and prepare for my surgery, and want to do everything possible to achieve the best possible outcome.

Does anyone have any success stories to tell?  How soon were you able to return to activities you loved?  Did you have a physical therapist you enjoyed working with?

Thank you for responding.
