Knee MRI - what does this mean?

I had a MRI on my knee yesterday. My doctor called and said “knee MRI shows mass on spine” and said I needed to see a specific orthopedic surgeon for a consultation next week. I looked up this surgeon and he specializes in orthopedic oncology. I don’t understand what the “on spine” means, since the MRI was only on my knee? The doctor also said they couldn’t tell what the mass was from the MRI. What are your thoughts?

Ugh, that's scary!  I'm sure you are really nervous.  Do you think your doctor suspected something else and this is why he did an MRI and the tumor on the spin was spotted?  I am sure it is very difficult to remain calm until you get to this appointment. Try to stay busy.  Please let us know what the doctor says next week.
