has anyone had a bicep tenotomy - tenodesis procedure?

My husband has shoulder surgery scheduled in 2 weeks.  He shows a 2mm tear in the supraspinatus tendon, a small tear in the subscapularis tendon and the bicep tendon is out of the bicipital groove on his right side.  He has no problem sleeping, he has no pain except when he shrugs his shoulder backwards or when he pushes forward to push away resistance. He has a dull ache most of the time with occasional bouts of a terrible burning sensation from shoulder down to the back of his hand.
Doctor is mostly focused on the bicep tendon issue.  He plans to do either a tenodesis or a tenotomy just depending on what condition he finds the tendon to be in.
My husband suffered a bad fall from a horse with his arm outstretched 3 years ago and that is where we believe these problems stem.  My husband is the type he won't ask questions he just assumes the doctors know all.
We wonder if the burning sensation is more a nerve being pinched.
Any information or experience with this type of surgery would be extremely helpful.
