knee and join pains

Im 24 years old and in the Army.  A few months back my right knee "popped" and swole up too the size of a softball. I was not able to move or bend it for a few weeks, ended up on crutches for 6 months.

My ankles have been popping (blamed it on sports)
My wrists have been hurting and popping (blamed it on heavy computer gaming/typing/piano)
Now recently, my knees (R & L) have been burning when I go up/down stairs, when walking or doing any sort of movements. The burning lasts for nearly 30 minutes of rest, until I feel confident enough to walk again.  Both knees give out once and a while after/during a walk, R knee more often than L. L knee experiences more sharp pains, but both share that trait.  Sharp pains are on the outside of the knee.

Last night, for whatever reason I ended up with what feels like a pinched nerve in my neck (I have had one for many years)

Thoughts?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possible causes of knee pain that may need to be considered include inflammations, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, cyst formation, injuries to the internal knee ligaments/ menisci, chondromalacia patellae, loose bodies, patellar dislocation, nerve impingement/ compression, neuropathy, vascular issues, bone growths/ tumours etc; just to name a few. The ankle and wrist issues would need to be looked into similarly. Feeling of a pinched nerve in the neck could actually be a pinched nerve or could be related to muscular issues. I would suggest consulting an orthopedician for an evaluation. After a cause is diagnosed, it can be managed accordingly.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
