rotator cuff issues with unexplained bruising

I was told i have rotator cuff tendonitis with impidgement but what no one can figure out is why my shoulder bruises and swells every once in a while. Its very painful when it happens. I have done all the traditional things to fix it like PT, cort. shots, and accupuncture. My orthro dr doesnt think i need surgery yet and says it can do more harm than good. Please help as i have no idea what to do now.

Hi there!

Well yes, rotator cuff injury/ tears could be a cause of the bruises. Other possibilities that may need to be ruled out are connective tissue disorders and autoimmune conditions causing your symptoms and associated low platelet counts. You may like to discuss the possibilities with your doctor.
Hope this was useful.

Take care!

have you had an MRI?  Is the rotator cuff torn?  Surgery is usually done for a tear rather than for tendinitis.
