trauma to shoulder/clavicle

I recently had a direct fall on my chest and shoulder with no chance to brace the fall with arms.  felt immediate pain in collar bone and found that my right collar bone is now higher than the left and sticks out a bit more(medial portion).  The pain has subsided for the most part over the past week...just uncomfortable now.

ER and Xray saw no fracture but didnt even ask to remove my shirt to see the change in collar bone appearance.

Going to an ortho on friday.  what are the chances I slightly dislocated my SC joint?  I know this is rare.

It could be that you've suffered an AC joint separation.  Your ortho will look at your xrays and be able to tell you all about it and give you options.  Best of luck!

All I can add is that the doc in the ER dropped the proverbial ball.  Shame on them.  I may be wrong, but anytime there's any new deformity, especially with trauma, a thorough history and physical is necessary.  That you're seeing an ortho soon is great.
