when orthoscopic patella release mpfl reconstruction doesn't work?

Im a 34 year old woman. On september 13 2018 i had orthoscopic patella lateral reconstruction mpfl. I started physical therapy 3 weeks later. On the 3rd day of pt i came home and went to bed. While i was sleeping my knee dislocated. I informed the doctor he then sent me for an mri. The day after the mri my knee dislocated and my mother called 911. I had trouble getting my knee back in place. At the hospital they took xrays. The doctor said everything looked fine. The vary next day my knee dislocated again. Im now afraid to move at all. Its a challenge to even get to the bathroom because im so afraid of landing on the floor in pain again. I meet with the doctor again this week. He wants to put me in a cast. Im scared that it will dislocate while in the cast. Im afraid the surgery made my problem worse. Where do I go from here? What should be my next step? The doctor said doing another surgery right now could cause more harm then good.
