26 year old daughter with OVC

Does anyone have low grade serous ovarian cancer?  my daughter is 26 years old, had total hysterectomy and two failed rounds of chemo.  I heard low grade does not respond to chemo.  What other options are out there?

Hi There

antiestrogen meds such as tamoxifen and arimidex have been used in low grade ovarian cancers especially if they have estrogen receptors

surgical resection means surgically removing the cancer
that can only be accomplished if the cancer is confined
best wishes

Aren't anti-estrogen medications given only if the tumors are a certain type and also what is a surgical resection?  I don't know if I ever heard of that.  We were originally at NYU in Manhattan but switched over to Sloan hoping they would have more cutting edge treatments.

Hi there,
I know how hard this is for you and your daughter.
Sloan Kettering is a great place and will comprehensively consider options with you.

Sometimes for low grade tumors, anti-estrogen medications can be helpful such as tamoxifen or arimidex

there are many chemo options: taxol, doxil, platinum, topotecan, gemzar

another option is to assess for the option of surgical resction.
please let us know how things are going
take care

Where do you live? Are you close to a center that provides clinical trials?
Is there a family history of OVCA?
