Anyone with ovca begin with recurrent ovarian cysts prior to diagnosis?

I was curious if anyone here had recurrent ovarian cysts before being diagnosed with ovca?
I had posted here before and have not been around for a while.  I have recurrent ovarian cysts that are causing peripheral edema. When they found them the first time, the gyn sent me to a gynonc who scheduled me for a hyst.  They ruptured before I could have surgery and the "solid, finger-like projected area" was unable to be seen on u/s just after rupture.  I do not have endometriosis so a chocalate cyst was not a possibility. I tried bcps for a while but that started causing breast issues, so the took me off of them b/c my mom was diagnosed with breast ca at the age of 44(I am 32).
Thanks for any info you can give.

I don't think you are getting adequate care.  Could you obtain a referral to another specialist?  That's too long to go and with not enough scanning..... you should have a transvaginal ultrasound..... find out what's going on.....
Best wishes,

Hi!   remember you also, although I am in the US.  I do not want to have the hysterectomy either but my doctor won't explore other options.  He gave a year of bcp prescription and told me if I changed my mind to make an appointment otherwise he would see me for my yearly.  He has not even done a follow up u/s since Feb 06.  Symptom-wise, I know they are there.  It had gotten better for a while but I can no longer ignore symptoms.  I am doing a fast track program to obtain my BSN so I cannot take time to have a hysterectomy even if that was the only option.  Thanks for answering my post!

Have you thought about a 2nd opinion??  I am concerned that there has been no follow U/S or CT Scan in over a year.  If you are in pain and experiencing symptoms you should find out the answers as to why.

You are very young to have a hysterectomy, maybe another doctor may have another suggestion.

Hi!  I remember you!  You were VERY helpful to the gals, interpreting some medical results.  Weren't you in Canada too?
I don't believe there really is a correlation, that they have determined, but you can't help but wonder, can you?
It's a really good question.
My doctor said no.... that you can have years and years of cysts (like I did, for 30+ years) and it does not mean you would automatically have a higher risk of ovca.  All he would say he is more watchful when cysts are complex.
You are awfully young for a hyster.... What are your thoughts on it all?
best wishes,
Katie
