Don't know what I should do?

Hi,
I am a 47 year old woman who had a partial hysto in 1991, I never had another pap since then because I thought my cervix was gone.  I went in October with severe pain in the left lower pelvic region.  I had an ultrasound and they found a 2cm complex bleeding cyst on the left ovary.  My question is would this cause me severe pain in my lower pelvic region and abnormal bowel movements "small pieces and about 3 to 4 times a day with horrible pain, also severe pain in the upper part of my stomach in between the ribs at the top and also bad lower back pain and horrible gas.  My family history is father with colon cancer, uncle and 2 aunts with colon cancer, and  2 aunts with ovarian cancer.  I also had microcalsifications removed in my left breast about a year ago, and can't take hormones or birth control for this reason.  I have health insurance, but owe a lot of medical bills.  Should I be concerned about the cyst could it be causing all of these problems? I just started a new job about a month ago, and don't want to lose this good job, but I am worried about my health.  Has anyone ever gone through this, what should I do?  I appreciate any and all help anyone can give me.
Thank You
Keri

Thank you so much Gail.....I really appreciate your time and response.  I have decided I am making an appointment this week, I have a severe skin infection right now so I decided I would rather get it checked out then wait on it.  Again, thank you so much for your time compassion and response.

Less than 10% of cancer is genetically linked. However, when talking about your health, 10% is still a percentage I wouldn't want to risk. No matter if cysts are benign or malignant, they can cause the same symptoms. It's something present that isn't supposed to be there. I know you don't want to risk your job, but I think it's important to pursue this further. I'm not saying I think you have cancer, but you should have things checked out. Not sure what your insurance is like, but most will pay for "wellness checks" and preventative procedures at 100% if coded correctly at the doctor's office. Yearly gyno exams are usually covered as that. Check out your policy and see if that is a possibility. You can pre-certify further testing if needed so you won't be hit with any surprises when the bills come in.

Hope you can find a way to move forward with this. If nothing else, peace of mind is worth your time and trouble.

Gail
