Complex cysts are usually a combination of fluid and solid cysts.

That is actually good news that both are enlarged because it is really rare to have Ovarian cancer in both ovaries at one time. When you google you can read all kinds of inaccurate stuff. Mostly the information is out dated. There have been great improvement in understanding ovaries and treatment in the last 5 years. This is why you have to talk to your doctor. Each case is different. A simple cyst has fluid and at some point ruptures and that is the end of it. If it happens often it is Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome. A complex cysts has a simple cyst along with another cyst that may at some point have to be surgically removed or it grows but causes no issues.

I have to talk to my doctors. Sometimes they tell me they do not know. A nurse at the practice also can have a lot of knowledge. I mean well but I am not a doctor and I do not know your medical history. I am happy to answer questions  but I do not know everything.

You can freak yourself out googling ovarian cysts. Ovarian cancer is scary. Tee statistic I read today is that you have 1.4% of getting ovarian cancer which is not very high. That means you have a 99.6% you will never get ovarian cancer.

There are a lot of things in the body they see with imaging that do not mean much healthwise. They are just there. Different textures just means the surface appears to be different textures. When they scan me they see cysts on my kidneys, bad disks (that do not bother me), something on my pelvis, and a dark spot on my jaw that came from a break but looks like cancer if they did not know it had been broken. We think these tests see clear pictures and they do not. Sometimes they have to make guesses. The good thing about the ultrasound is it can see ovarian cancer. They knew when they did mine that I was full of cancer. They did a CT but the ultrasound was enough.

He asked about pain because different textures could mean an adhesion and that is basically where tissue is stuck to other tissue. Like and ovary can grow onto some other near by tissue and hurt because it pulls.

Doctoring is a lot of guess work. I have a lot of times when they were looking for something serious and it turns out to be nothing. I do not worry until they find something. I had the jaw scare. They were sure it was cancer when I knew I had been hit in the face with an extension ladder. I had the breast cancer scare. They found a healthy lymphnode which also shows up on MRI. After mammogram and ultrasound it was determined to be a healthy lymphnode. They thought I had gallbladder cancer, it was just a sick gallbladder. They thought I had one of two fatal brain things and it was MS. I have the kidney things on CT that are benign. I kept falling and they thought I had a brain tumor which I did not. Just because they think it is something does not mean it is. A lot of doctoring is guess work.

As far as my cancer goes it is hereditary. A bunch of women have had ovarian cancer in my family. I have the BRCA gene mutation like Angelina Jolie. I also have Multiple Sclerosis. I have learned to live with both and more importantly to not let medical things freak me out so bad. I do freak when my cancer gets worse but only for a day or two. I still ride horses, walk my dogs, and travel.

Ask your doctor any question you want. I write them down. Hopefully all will be well.

What does different textures mean though, ice been reading complex cysts like dermoids etc can be detected on us.there was no mention of cyst just enlarged with heterogenous texture? Sonographer asked do you get pain in this side( side where texture is)I said no but keep thinking why ask? I asked what they will do and she said maybe blood tests ask imaging so it all just looks so worrying to me thankyou again Michelle x

It simply means you have different textures on the ovary or cyst. In a lifetime unless you have the BRCA mutation you only have a 1.4% of ovarian cancer. What is your doctor's suggestion? If they are not sending you to an oncologist you have little to worry about. They might do another ultrasound or CT later. Most ovarian cysts are not cancerous.
