New Doctor?

I have had a 9cm ovarian cyst for 6 years now.  My doctor seems to want and US and CA-125 every year to "watch" this cyst.  My US report always comes back the same - 9cm complex ovarian neoplasm with septations.  My doctor called and discussed the ultrasound report with me three weeks ago - every week since then - he has called once a week to "discuss the US report.  It worries me that he doesn't even remember talking to me about it.  I have had this now for 6 years - 47 - over menopause - so I don't know whether to keep watching and waiting or see another DR.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks for all of the comments - I think I will find try to find a gyn/onc and make an appt to see them.  I have had an open hernia surgery and have mesh from my bellybutton down and I am not looking forward to any surgery - my DR said this would have to be an open surgery since the cyst is so big - he said he would have to have a general surgeon in with him - because he would have to remove my mesh.

Oh boy, it must seem like the world is sitting on your shoulders. I wish there was an easy answer or statement to ease your anxiety but there is not. You need to keep strong and put your head down and get to the bottom your issue, be calm but aggressive.
You definitely need to run as fast as you can away from that Dr. Go to a large medical center where you live and get the name of a good gyn/oncologist so you can get this taken care of and finally get a diagnoses thru pathology. I am not saying you have cancer but studies have shown that treatment by a non gyn/oncologist can lead to poorer outcomes.
Please push for at the very least an MRI and the best scenario is to have the "complex cyst" removed intact and have a pathologist view it. Has to be removed intact so as not to seed(spread) any cells into the pelvis.
You need to have that MRI I don't understand why you Dr just wants to keep telling you that you do not have something without a pathology report.  He is acting very innapropriate!!
Call his office and tell them you want ALL your records and test results as you are going for a second opinion, you are entitiled to them all.
Please post with any other questions you may have, keep us informed.
Good Luck
Kevin

I am shocked you have had this large complex cyst for that long. I have just discovered that I have a 9 cm complex mass on my ovary and I am scedualed for a total hysterectomy in 2 weeks. I think you should
get a second oppinion if you don't feel satisfied with your doctor.
